Following his discharge, he gained valuable work experience with Frank Potter Trucking, Barney Bargary Century 21 Real Estate and the Missouri Ruralist and New York Life Insurance companies. In 1998, John moved back to Boonville and married his present wife, Barbara. Since that time, John and Barbara have become very active in the real estate business, establishing their own real estate company in 2004 and affiliating with Reece & Nichols Alliance, Inc. in June of 2005. As a Broker/DR, John serves on various committees for the Central Missouri Board of REALTORS®. He is also very active in Boonville community affairs. He is the current president of the local chapter of Kiwanis International, has served as a board member of the Missouri River Festival of the Arts, is a John has two children, Becky and Johnny, as well as six grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, fishing, traveling and reading.
